Self-Care 101 with De La Heart
Need a little refresher on how to detox and glow with de la heart? We’ve got you, fam! We put together this quick guide to walk you through our signature self-care ritual, which will leave your mind feeling calm and centered—and your body looking naturally toned and radiant! Let’s get started…
STEP 1: DRY BRUSH WITH THE BODY BRUSH
Why: Dry brushing sloughs away the layer of dull, dead skin cells that build up on skin’s surface—and that has two important benefits. First, when you exfoliate built-up dead skin, light can reflect better and you’ll have a natural glow. Second, any bodycare treatments you apply afterward will absorb better. “Dry brushing also helps boost circulation and gives you an instant energy boost,” Gigi adds.
When: A.M. or P.M.
How: Grab your Body Brush and start with completely dry skin (before a bath or shower). Using gentle but firm pressure, brush toward your heart to help stimulate circulation. 5-7 strokes per area is all you need!
STEP 2: HYDRATE WITH THE BODY OIL BUNDLE
Why: Replenishing hydration is essential to keeping your skin looking supple and healthy. “I love using our Organic Jojoba Oil and Sweet Almond Oil on my skin because they deeply nourish and help seal in moisture,” Gigi says. Both Jojoba Oil and Almond Oil are naturally anti-inflammatory and rich in beneficial fatty acids. Plus, they sink in quickly so skin looks glowy—not greasy.
When: After a shower or bath—or anytime you need instant glow!
How: “I like to blend our Organic Jojoba Oil and Sweet Almond Oil together in my hands and apply while my skin is still slightly damp,” Gigi says. “I love doing this after dry brushing and showering—my skin literally glows.”
STEP 3: DETOX WITH THE BODY TOOL
Why: A traditional self-care secret of women in Latin and South American countries, lymphatic drainage massage supports your body’s natural detox flow, helping to increase circulation, reduce the look of bloating and minimize the appearance of cellulite. Taking time for a regular massage practice also gives you time to de-stress and reconnect with your body. “Even if it’s just five minutes, taking that time for yourself is healing,” Gigi says.
When: A.M. or P.M. “I love doing my lymphatic drainage ritual at either time of the day,” Gigi says. “If I want to wind down and help promote overnight detox flow, I’ll do my ritual before bed. If I’m feeling low energy and I want to wake up my lymphatic system, I’ll do it in the morning.”
How: To start, grab your Massage Tool and awaken your lymphatic system by pumping the two major lymph nodes in your body. Pump the back of your knees and underneath your armpits 5 times each for optimal detoxifying results.
Front of legs:• Holding the tool in a horizontal position, start at your ankle and gently stroke in an upward motion toward your inner thigh. Repeat 3-7 times per leg.
• Holding the tool in a vertical position, gently stroke in an upward motion toward your outer thigh. Repeat 3-7 times per leg.
Back of legs:
• Massage the back of your legs by holding the tool in a vertical position.
• We recommend using a stepstool or a chair to help you easily reach the back of your knees, as you stroke in an upward motion until you reach the gluteal fold.
• Massage your arms by holding the tool in a vertical position, practicing smooth and gentle strokes as you glide the tool from your inner wrist to your armpit. Repeat this motion on the outer parts of your arm. Repeat 3-7 times on each arm.
BONUS! FIRM WITH LIFT & TONE CREAMApply Lift & Tone Cream anytime for instant skin-firming benefits. “I love using this before I put on shorts. It gives my legs gorgeous glow and enhances the toning benefits I get from our Love Your Body resistance bands,” Gigi says.
