Why I Start my Day with an Anti-Inflammatory Concoction
5 years ago I was suffering from chronic UTIs. I was caught in the medical hamster wheel of taking multiple cycles of strong antibiotics a year, which provided temporary relief, but no long-term solution. Highly frustrated, I decided to try something different. I called Dr. Etti, a doctor of holistic nutrition, and respected Detox Doctor, a.k.a the Juice Goddes. After speaking to her, she suggested I needed to bring my body to an âalkaline stateâ. I had NO clue what that meant back then, so I started doing my homework.
After some research, among other things, I learned that lemon juice is one of the most alkaline foods available. Lemons are rich in potassium, folate, vitamin B6 and thiamin, lemons also contain bankable amounts of magnesium, calcium, phosphorous, and vitamins A and E. As well as ashtonishing levels of Vitamin C. Vitamin C is one of the quickest and easiest ways to boost your immune system. It helps neutralize free radicals associated with aging and disease and its also excellent for the skin. I went even further and discovered that warm water with lemon is a natural energizer, and when consumed first thing in the morning it helps hydrate and oxygenate the body, leaving it feeling refreshed and revitalized throughout the day.
I needed to give it a try! So I started having warm water with lemon first thing every morning. I noticed the benefits immediatelyâmy skin cleared up, I lost weight, I wasnât getting colds as often, and I wasnât as hungry/thirsty throughout the day.  And voilĂ , a new routine was born! Fast-forward 5 years, the lemon water tea has evolved into an anti-inflammatory concoction, and its my religion! Now, I add one ounce of apple cider vinegar and a teaspoon of turmeric powder. If, Iâm feeling under the weather, I add a teaspoon of Manuka honey & ginger (for anti-bacterial benefits).
Follow these steps and enjoy the health benefits.
Â
- Drink the tea first thing in the morning (on an empty stomach).
- Make the water not too cold, not too hot, but just right.
- Add one ounce of organic lemon juice.
- Add one ounce of apple cider vinegar, a teaspoon of turmeric powder, an ounce of pressed ginger juice. (all these are optional, if youâre feeling daring!)
- Make sure to wait 30 minutes before eating breakfast or drinking coffee, this will ensure your body gets the most energy and nutrients from the food you eat.
with love,Â
