Girl Of The Month: Meet Sally Schimko

Happy October everyone! The start of a new month is always a catalyst for motivation. Whether you're looking to make a change or check in with where you are, I'm here to encourage you to make it happen. But before you go out and get it done, you have to go in. Which brings me to the focus of the month: Awareness. The state of being awake. Being conscious of our mind, body, soul, and environment. Life happens in the physical and our body is our tool. The girl of the month of October is very conscious of what she puts in her body and how she feeds her family. She's made "healthy food" sexy and appetizing... so much that she's taken Miami by storm! You can either find her at Barry's bootcamp or in somebody's kitchen giving cooking classes. I'm happy to introduce Sally Schimko aka @mysexyveggies!Born and raised in Israel but local to Miami Beach. Happily married to the love of her life, she's also the mommy of two beautiful kids. While being a full-time mom, Sally created her food oriented blog "My Sexy Veggies" as an expression of her own need of making healthy food interesting for her son Ethan, who wouldn't eat his veggies! "I never gave up on being creative and finding new ways of incorporating healthy food into his diet" says Schimko. She quickly picked up and started making others change their perception on healthy food as well.
What's a normal day for you. A day in my life will always start with a sweat session. Working out is a huge priority for me, a mental escape, and my "me time". While the kids are in school, I teach private cooking classes and coach clients through their nutrition journeys. Pick up the kids and I'm back to mommy duties, and I love it!
How do you feel about social media? Like everything in life: moderation. Keep it real, be yourself, be graceful, and help people grow as you grow.
Where does your passion for food and cooking come from? I want people to see the wonder of veggies through my eyes and most importantly feel good "smart food good mood". Through my son's experience I found the wonders of clean eating and vegetables so I'm happy to share what works for me and my kids.
