Red, White, & Blue Fruit Kabobs

I want to start this message by saying how grateful I am as a Latina woman living in the United States to have the right to live in a country with endless opportunities. The last year has been transformative for all of us, and thanks to the freedom and power of our word, we were able to get through one of the most trying times that this world has ever experienced.
With that said, I am honoring today at my house by teaching my little Shiva about the meaning behind this very special day with a festive fruit platter made of red, white & blue. I think crafty projects like this colorful fruit platter are some of the best ways to educate kids, and in this case, about independence day!
Tools:
  • Star Cookie Cutter
  • Wooden Skewers
Ingredients:
  • Fresh Watermelon
  • Blueberries
  • Vegan Marshmallows ( We love Dandies )

Instructions:

  • Thoroughly wash all fruit and cut the watermelon into quarter chucks.
  • Place fruit and marshmallows in separate bowls for easy assembly
  • Using the star shape cutter, carefully press the cutter into the to slice watermelon to form a watermelon star. Repeat.
  • Using skewers, add red, white and blue ingredients to cover skewer leaving 1 inch at the top.
  • Top skewer with watermelon star & enjoy.
NOTE* For young children & babies, swap out skewers with paper straws to avoid sharp edges or carefully cut off the pointed tip of skewers.

With love,
