Girl of the Month: Meet Brittany Falzarano

Brittany Falzarano is an entrepreneur, workout enthusiast and bride-to-be. She is the owner of the super chic athleisure and swimwear boutique, EightSpace. She is sharing her beauty secrets, workout routines and wedding diet with us. We are so excited to get to know our September Girl of the Month!

Please tell us what you do for a living.

I am the owner of EightSpace, a multi brand Womens active apparel and swimwear store in Wynwood.

How did you get started with your career?

I have been working in retail since I was in High School and started doing Visual Merchandising after college for Intermix before opening EightSpace.

Describe a day in your life.

I usually wake up between 7:30-8am and make a protein/matcha shake and spend 30 minutes on the couch sitting with my fiancÊ before we both begin our days; next I head to a workout before opening the store at 11am. I spend the day in the store on emails and helping customers. I am usually home between 7:30 and 8:30 depending if I do a workout after work and then make dinner and watch TV on the couch. Finally getting into bed around 10-10:30pm. Repeat!

Tell us about your journey through entrepreneurship.

I have had a wild year between leaving my job at Intermix, where I worked for about 12 years, opening my store, splitting with a business partner, getting engaged, and now planning a wedding. It has been a lot to juggle. I try and remind myself that everything happens for a reason and I stay true to my core values.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I was in a place in my career that I really needed to grow and switch things up. I had an amazing boss and a great position that provided me with a ton of benefits including a work-life balance but I was very comfortable.

Please tell us about EightSpace.

I moved to Miami 4 years ago and fell into a routine of waking up on the weekends and going to work out and then coming home and putting on a bathing suit and heading to the beach. It seemed like everyone worked out and sun bathed and they were two apparel categories that made so much sense together. I found it really challenging to find a place to shop that had a cool store aesthetic as well as a curated assortment.

HOME

Where are you from and how long have you lived in Miami?

Grew up in Boca Raton, FL and have been living in Miami for 4 years.

Last thing you cooked?

Salmon with cauliflower and a salad.

Can’t leave the house without?

Cell phone.

Best way to decompress at home.

Watching TV

What’s on your reading list?

I wish I was more consistent with reading, I really only read when I am in the Hamptons or on a flight by myself.

WELLNESS

How do you usually start your mornings?

F-Factor protein and Yoko Matcha drink

What is the first thing you thought of this morning?

I am so happy to be in my own bed after 3 weeks of traveling!

What is your go-to fitness routine or regimen?

I do DanceBody 2-3 days per week, I just started with a trainer 1-2 days per week, I try and do JetSet once per week and Sol Yoga once per week. When I travel I always bring a jump rope so that even if the hotel doesn’t have a gym I can try and get a little bit of cardio in.

Where do you work out/practice and why do you go there?

I absolutely love DanceBody, the lead instructor has the most amazing energy and it is an amazing way to decompress and get a good sweat. I find it to be the best way to get in 45 minutes of cardio without feeling like I have to workout. My fiancĂŠ knows not to make plans for me on Tuesday nights!

What is your approach to nutrition?

I eat pretty healthy but am not too strict. Even on my “wedding diet” I still eat desserts every night (Smart Sweets or Lily’s chocolate chips, I keep them both in the freezer)

What are your lifestyle “must-do’s” and your absolute “no ways”?

I must work-out, for me it isn’t just physical, it is my me-time and as an only child, I need to make sure I am getting some of that!

What is your relationship to food?

Work in progress.

What’s your philosophy about beauty.

I am a sucker for a beauty product! I love hearing about new products from friends and trusted beauty professionals but everyones skin is different so do your own research before buying something that someone else suggests.

I don’t love social media but my most frequently used is Instagram

LIFESTYLE

What’s your favorite city in the world?

I love being in the Hamptons, it is such a special place to me and my fiancÊ separately and now also together. We really decompress when we are out there and enjoy going on walks and reading. It is a great time for us to connect.

Where do you want to travel next?

I really want to go to Napa but that probably won’t be my next trip. Spain? Italy? Japan?!

Last trip you took.

I just came back from Tulum for my friends bachelorette

What words do you live by.

“Everything happens for a reason.”

If you could offer advice to your 18 year old self, what would it be?

Start wearing SPF now, have the best time in college with your friends, find an internship (or 5), and when you meet the right guy, you will know.

What’s the secret to a healthy relationship/marriage?

Communication - definitely something I need to continue to work on, but it’s as simple as that.

WEDDING

I am getting married in September in Montauk, so I am in total wedding-mode. This includes my diet, workouts and basic day-to-day lifestyle. I am a huge fan of F-Factor, the fiber-based diet that has taken over the nutrition world by storm. The results, for me, have been amazing. I know this sounds ambitious, but I am trying to get in a workout every single day from now until my wedding day. Let’s see if I can commit!

Diet: I have been doing the F-Factor diet for a couple of months and am really happy with the results. I have had a ton of travel over the past few months so it has been a little hard to be strict because I think it is important to embrace your surroundings. For the last month before the wedding I will be much stricter with F-Factor and cut out alcohol.

Workout: We will see if this happens - but I am going to try and workout every day until the wedding. Whether I am doing weights in the gym, dance cardio, or yoga I would like to make sure I am doing something for my body every day.
