A Vision Board That Actually Works

Where attention goes, energy flows. I’ve been a fan of creating a vision board for a few years now. Every January I give my board a total refresh to get clear about how I want to feel in the new year—I write down my goals and intentions for the upcoming year and pretty much anything that inspires and motivates me. The purpose of my vision board is to bring everything on it to life! I usually place it in a space where I see it often, and I find myself visualizing throughout the day.
I see a vision board as a tool to help clarify, concentrate and maintain focus on a specific life goal. A vision board is any sort of board on which you display images that represent whatever you want to be, feel, do or have in your life. Here’s how you create one that actually works!

How do I create a vision board?

First, think about what your goals and intentions are in the following areas: relationships, career and finances, home, travel, personal growth (spirituality, social life, education) and health. From your goals and aspirations, think about how you want to feel not just on things that you want.

What do I need?

Any kind of board, scissors, tape, or glue-stick, magazines, photos, quotes, sayings, images of places, events or people. Pretty much anything that inspires you.

How do I do it?

First, gift yourself stress-free time to put your board together. You can invite friends over and make a party out of it, or you can make it a private ceremony with yourself. Start off by connecting to yourself and your intentions. Then, set the mood. Light candles and create the space. Lay on your board your final picks—these will represent everything you wish to bring to life this year. Last, glue and pin everything together. I like to leave some space to add what comes up throughout the year. Keep it in a place where you look at it often.

Does it actually work?

Believe it or not, visualization works. Remember the book The Secret? “The law of attraction is forming your entire life experience and it is doing that through your thoughts. When you are visualizing, you are emoting a powerful frequency out into the Universe.”

Use this tool to visualize your future and to stay on track with your goals and intentions.
